This building, known as Quarters Four, was built along with Quarters Two and Quarters Three from 1872 to 1874 to serve as subaltern (subordinate) officer's quarters. The three homes were scaled-down Italianate villas that were modeled after the larger commanding officer's quarters, known as Quarters One. By 1920, the assistant officer's quarters all had their own garage and chicken house.
